The Five Mistakes People Make With Pets

Feeding your pet table food.
Your pet may enjoy table food and it can be tempting to
give them some. However human food doesn’t provide your pet
with a balanced diet. So to keep your pet healthy, refrain
from feeding them any pizza or that last piece of steak.

Forgetting to brush your pet’s teeth.
Plaque on a pet’s teeth can turn to tartar in just two days
which is then difficult to remove. Eventually the pet’s
gums become infected and lead to heart and kidney problems.
Brush your pet’s teeth at least every other day.

Skipping those regular animal vaccinations.
Remember to keep up with rabies shots, heartworm pills, and
flea and tick medications. Annual examinations can help
identify health poblems with your pet before they become
serious. Monthly heartworm pills and parasite control is
key not only for your pet’s health but for owners and young
children as well.

Letting your animal chew on things that aren’t pet toys.
Most pet emergencies could be avoided. Don’t let your pet
play with socks or yarn and avoid that tempting steak bone.
Many pets lodge these in their mouth or ingest them
requiring expensive surgery.

Skipping routine exercise with your pet.
Many pets are overweight even though they may be on a
proper diet. Walking your dog or playing with your cat is
important to keep the extra weight off and joints and
muscles healthy. Even ten minutes of play time a day with
your pet can make a big difference.
